Rover has modified the boot lid stops during the middle of 1996. These are the small rubber blocks that are fitted to the boot hinge assembly under the rear parcel shelf and prevent the hinges from travelling up too far. On my 1996 MGF 1.8i the original rubbers allowed the leading edge of the boot to touch the rear face of my Rover hardtop if the boot lid was blown further open by the wind. Rover has simply increased the thickness of the rubber to prevent this happening.
