Wind Stop rattling against Roll Hoops

I have a glass wind-stop fitted behind my roll hoops, and have found that at speed there was a tendancy for the glass to rattle against the back of the roll hoops.

To overcome this I fitted small self adhesive felt pads, one to each hoop, on to the rear face of the hoops, to act as a cushion. These pads are the sort that are available from any large DIY shop, and are intended for fitting to the bottom of chair and table legs to stop them scratching wooden floors. They work perfectly.

I had tried smaller clear plastic pads, the sort that you often find on kitchen draws and cupboard doors, but they had to be bonded on, and were too hard to stop the rattle.

Update - August 2007
During this summer when touring in southern France, we experienced sudden and sharp noises as though stones were hitting the windscreen or car body when driving at high speed. It turned out to be the outer edges of the windstop hitting the outer pillars of the roll bars. Whether this was due to the high temperatures causing the glass or windstop hinges to move easier, I don't know, but I then added pads to the two outer pillars and this cured the problem.
